Central Texas Striper Fishing |
There is no one way to get a job done, As long as the job is done right! Stripers are a tough act to follow, but having the right tools will make it A LOT easier to get the job done. In our Texas striper fishing arsenal is a bag of tricks that have been gathered over decades of trial and error. Some of our tactics have been self taught while others have been handed down from one generation of anglers to the next. Listed below is an outline of our preferred methods for chasing down Lake Whitney Stripers! DOWNRIGGING- Simply put downrigging is controlled depth fishing. This tactic allows you to put the bait in the strike zone and keep it there. With our multiple rod set up's, we can fish several different baits at different depth to hone in on what the fish are wanting at that particular time. While the boat does most of the "fishing", there is still alot of technique to getting them hooked up and bringing them to the boat. It is exciting when crew and captain holler out "FISH ON"!!!!!!!!! LIVE BAIT- Live bait can be another very effective way to fish for Lake Whitney stripers. Be it vertically drifting live shad or perch, or balloon fishing live bait the strikes are usually vicious. There are several options other than vertical and balloon fishing. Another way we fish live bait is on a slow troll. SLABS AND SPOONS- Slabing can be a lot of fun when you find the stripers piled up. Slabs and spoons are fished vertically and casted. The trick here is finding the right presentation. Some times a slow fall is the trick while other times slowly bumping the slab or spoon on the bottom is where the action is. The one thing about fishing with slabs and spoon's is when they are working and the fish are on, it's like magic! |
