My Gosh! What a wonderful season. This past season at Comedero and El Salto Lakes in Mexico were the very best we have seen in 36 years. Both lakes started the season in October almost full of water due to good rains last summer. Consequently, our clients enjoyed the best fishing they had ever experienced in their lives. Not only did they catch tons of bass, but hundreds of trophy bass.

Last summer I sent you a newsletter saying we would probably have an outstanding fishing season. Well, it happened! Many clients listened to us and booked, but many stayed home. Those who went are so happy that they went and are re-booking taking their buddies this coming season. Were you one of the ones that stayed home last season? What will you do this coming season? Hopefully, you will not stay home and miss out on this fantastic fishing again.

Book today and don’t miss out!

Brazil Peacocks
One of the best things I ever did in this business was starting the Brazil Peacock Bass trips 15 years ago. I have said it over and over that these are the very, very best trips we have ever offered, and now they are getting even better.

Starting this Fall we will have a brand new houseboat that will be unbelievable. The new boat will have private rooms with side by side beds, individual air conditioners for each room, and an all enclosed air-conditioned restaurant. The top deck will be a leisure deck with 2 Jacuzzis for soaking and relaxing after a great day of fishing. This is real luxury in the Amazon rain forest in addition to red hot topwater fishing, great food, and ice cold air conditioning on a floating hotel. How about that?

But let’s not forget about the meanest, jumpingest, most furious fish that swims. When you hook a big peacock, you instantly know you are not the one in charge. The order of the day usually includes broken lines, broken rods and stripped reels. Don’t worry, we furnish all the rods, reels and lures totally free.

This is a first class trip with a topnotch outfitter. There are a few cheaper trips, but cheap is for a reason such as small unstable boats where you can’t stand up, motors that won’t, run, etc.

Book your dream trip today as we only have a few dates left.

High Season/Low Season — Save Money
Most fishing lodges have a high season and a low season. Usually this has nothing to do with the best time to fish, but rather the time most clients want to go. In our case in Mexico, it has to do with the weather here in the USA. When the cold winter winds begin to blow, most fishermen either quit fishing or they go south to Mexico.

In Mexico our season runs from October to June and there is little difference in the quality of fishing. In fact, the very best catch ever at Comedero and El Salto came in the low season. Five years ago 3 friends and myself fished Comedero in December catching 31 bass over 9 lbs. on topwaters. This past season at El Salto, we had 2 anglers who caught 22 bass over 9 lbs. in late April and they have re-booked next season for mid-May as they feel they were early this year.

If you go with us in the low season, then you will save money. Normally, we reduce our prices in the low season to encourage our clients to go when we don’t have a full camp.

Lake Comedero
In 1987, 88, 90, and 1991, we stocked Lake Comedero with F1 strain Florida bass. The fish came from Buffalo, Texas, and were an excellent strain of fish destined to grow very big. Well, as most of you know, that’s exactly what has happened. Big, big bass!

A few years ago we had a guide during the summer who claimed to have caught a 24 lb. bass on a 10" worm. We had no pictures and no verification, but it made a great story. However, 2 years later, Ray Newman from Oklahoma caught, weighed, photographed, and released a 19 lb. bass from Comedero. The taxidermist in Oklahoma who made the replica for Ray had to get a mold of the state record from Alabama to get his replica done. Ray’s taxidermist told him that the measurements of the huge fish were so big that he felt the fish was larger than 19 lbs.

Many, many clients have hooked monster fish in Comedero that have broken lines, broken rods, and stripped gears out of reels. Many anglers feel there is a world record bass swimming in Comedero. It very well could be possible, but I have heard so many stories over the past 35 years that I must see it to believe it.

My personal opinion is that the lakes in Southern California present the best chance to break the world record if it is ever broken. However, I also believe that other than California, Lake Comedero has the next best chance to break the record due to climate, food, depth, and lack of sport fishing pressure.

I can’t sell you a world record, but I can sell you a fun fishing trip in a remote place not covered up with boats. We have had consistent great, big bass fishing for the past 7 years. While other lakes like Huites, El Salto, Bacarrac, Agua Milpa, Cuchillo, and Guerrero have had their ups and downs, Comedero has remained consistently great. No doubt this beautiful mountain lake is my personal favorite of all time.

If you want a great, great big bass lunker trip, then get you a reservation for next season. Our season opens November 1 and runs until April 15, and it is all good.

You need to book ASAP for your special date!

El Salto
Over the past 4 years, our clients have caught lots of 9 and 10 lb. bass from this lake. However, most of the trophy bass came from deep water. The shallow water fish were smaller bass. Well things changed drastically this past season. Starting back last October, our clients began catching trophy fish in shallow water on topwaters, cranks and spinners.

I knew way back last Fall that we were in for one of the best seasons of fishing ever in Mexico for the past 36 years. Well, we did have the very best season ever on El Salto with so many 9 and 10 lb. bass we just absolutely lost count. Here is an example of a great catch that came in the low season of May. Jim and Tom Schultz of Illinois caught 371 bass over 3-1/2 lbs. Jim’s five biggest fish for 3 days were 10, 11, 13, 13 lb 2 oz, and a 14 lb 2 oz. That’s a 12 lb. average on 5 fish. Tom’s five largest bass were a 12 lb 6 oz, 12 lb 8 oz, 12 lb 9 oz, 13 lb 2 oz, and a 14 lb 2 oz. That is a 13 lb average on 5 bass. Awesome!

The Rick Stewart group from California and the Ron Sherwood group from Arkansas fished in April. These two groups (6 men) caught 1,083 bass with 7 over 10 lbs., 7 over 9 lbs., 9 over 8 lbs, and 15 over 7 lbs. Incredible! We had group after group that had these kinds of results.

We turned away so many clients last season, we hope to add a couple more rooms for this upcoming season. The price remains the same as before: $1,295 in high season and $995 in the low season. Our competition has just gone up to $1,995 for 3 days. Why pay more!

Everyone wants to go in January and February when it is cold in the USA. Why not go when the fishing is red hot and the prices are lower. Our two best catches ever on El Salto and Comedero both came during the low season.

Call today and don’t get left out!

Huites
This lake a few years ago was probably the very best bass lake in Mexico. Then it seemed Mother Nature took over, giving us El Nino, La Nina in two successive years. Three years ago we suffered a drought and the following year the Corps of Engineers let most of the water out to fill Lake Hidalgo. Therefore, we closed our clamp last season and ran no clients.

I am very happy to report that Huites has had and continues to have lots of water. The great fishing has returned except the fish are much bigger. For the past several months, the lake has continually produced huge catches of bass many times exceeding 100 fish a day per boat. There is absolutely no sport fishing pressure and we are very excited about the future of this great lake. Therefore, we are re-opening our beautiful camp this coming Fall. We have been planting more trees and flowers, and working on the camp while we were closed.

The fishing is great and the low price is even better for those on a budget. Charter flights are available from El Paso to close to the lake. Price for 3 days is unbelievable $795 low season per person. Why not give us a call today and come visit this beautiful, wonderful mountain lake. We are opening the first week of November.

E-mail Address
Over the past 36 years, we have kept our clients informed about Mexico using the U.S. Mail. We averaged sending out 8 newsletters a year with updated news and photos. Well, U.S. postage has gotten so expensive, we can’t send them by U.S. Mail anymore. Therefore, please send us your e-mail address so you can continue to be updated on the Mexico programs (sign up at the top of this or any other page).

We have plans to reduce the price at El Salto by 50% for one month next year. That month will be announced only in our new e-mail newsletter. If you don’t have an e-mail address, then send us a friend’s e-mail (sign up at the top of this or any other page).
Summary
This past season we experienced the very best fishing at El Salto and Comedero since our 1975 season at Lake Guerrero. The fishing was fantastic!

When we ran out of clients at Comedero in March, I almost cried. We were catching 9 and 10 lb. bass like crazy and had to close down in mid-March. What a shame!

All of the West Coast lakes were full last year and it looks like a repeat for this coming season. Reopening Huites after closing it last season should present some fresh new water without much pressure.

All in all it looks like another “blow out” season coming up this year. Don’t Miss Out!

And remember, if you are too busy to fish and hunt, then Mister, you are too darn busy!
